Voice Teacher Reacts to Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville – Silent Night

Hi everyone. Andy Davis here again from
Master of Voice, a channel with reactions to performers from across the world. In
this episode, I’m going to be reacting to American singers, Linda Ronstadt and
Aaron Neville, as they sing “Silent Night”. I’m so eager to hear their duet. He’s singing with such emotion already.
I’ve always enjoyed his voice. It’s a little thinner than you would expect
from a man of his size and stature. Where he places his vowels is a bit nasal but
it gives off such a beautiful vibrato as it tells us that he sings with no
tension in the walls of his throat at all. Just beautiful singing in
Aaron Neville’s signature style and a sound that you know that it’s him when
he’s singing. A little different placement in the
vowels there. Beautiful string section…..Oh, Linda. Wow. Oh my goodness. That is a beautiful
soprano quality coming from her. And I know she has a wide range but a lot of
times you think of Linda Ronstadt being down in her lower chest voice quality –
that rich chest voice quality that she gives. Here, she is in a beautifully-
placed soprano quality in her voice. How lovely. You know, a lot of times, I
wondered – you know they had such popular duet or two – back in the 90s “Don’t Know
Much” being one of them (one of my favorites) and you know she was up in her
mid chest voice and a lot in that song but you almost wonder how two voices
that are seemingly so different can mix so well in a duet. Here she giving us a
bit of different tone quality than I’ve heard from her in a lot of her songs and
it’s beautiful. And, of course, this song an international standard for this time
of year and for the Christmas holiday. So beautiful. Singing with the chorus. She’s keeping her eyes very good on the
conductor there. Gorgeous harmonies. This is so impressive. I love these two
and I love that they joined up so many times over the years for performances
just like this. I believe this is actually an Aaron Neville Christmas
gathering or special, if you will, that she was invited in to do some of these
songs. And I love the harmonies that they’re giving us during this duet
sections. She’s singing the melody, he’s singing almost at tenor harmony part
above her. Gorgeous. Wow. Done with such reverence
for this time of the year. You know, I’m so happy to have heard that rendition of
this song today. One of the most well known Christmas and holiday songs there
is. Truly beautiful by two legendary performers. I hope you enjoyed this
reaction. If you did, please click like and hit subscribe, leave me a comment
