MHS 2018 High School Spring Instrumental Concert


– Welcome to our March Music
in Our Schools Month Concert. I’m very excited to share with you that our orchestra students
and our band students have been rehearsing
nonstop and working through some trying weather
times to present to you an evening of some really sound music. I’d also like to thank
tonight in our audience we have Mr. John Perrino,
Board President, with us. (audience applauding) And, Mr. John Williams, our Vice President of
the Board joining us. (audience applauding) We thank them for their support. And, I’d like to thank Mr. Johanson and Mrs. Gugliotta for putting
this entire evening together. And, introduce, yay!
(audience applauding) And, introduce the newest member of our MHS administrative
team, Miss Holly Markalina who is the new dean of House IV. (audience applauding) So, please enjoy our show
tonight and thank you so much for coming out. – All right. Hey, everybody. So, we have all of our
instrumental students who are in band on the stage right now. We are doing our combined number of La La Land, selections from. They have worked so, so hard on this piece and I think you’re gonna hear
it when they start playing. They really deserve
your undivided attention and I’d appreciate your cooperation
with giving these people the respect they deserve. Thank you so much for being
here and let’s get started. (audience applauding) (“La La Land Medley”) (audience applauding) All right, this is our Concert Band. We’ll be playing two selections for you, Tango Americano and Urban Dances. Enjoy. (audience cheering) – Thank you so much for your patience as we got set up for this string portion of this evening. A special thanks to Freddy Quinones for playing percussion. (audience applauding)
(audience cheering) He’ll be back a little later on. We had a little change of
personnel so he’s actually gonna be playing drum
set on some of the pieces that are later on in the program. We have one more piece
from the string ensemble and then we’ll do a
quick change of personnel and we’ll be (mumbles). (audience applauding) (lively music) (audience applauding)

(audience cheering) As a Buffalo native and
therefore a Buffalo Sabres fan by default, this next piece
is actual special place in my heart. And, we’re gonna welcome
some more percussionists to our stage. Christian Collins, Maria
Navoa, Freddy Quinones, and Chris, is Chris coming out? Chris Hanna I think is
joining us (chuckles). Are you there, come on out. (audience applauding) (“Sabre Dance”) (audience applauding)
(audience cheering) (lively orchestral music) (audience applauding)
(audience cheering) So, yes Chris Pierre’s
gonna play piano for us on Moondance. We have on our last piece
which is Uptown Funk we’re gonna welcome Nick
Soto but that’s after this next piece here. So, we’d like to thank
him for, he’s gonna play a little guitar for us. And, you’ll hear some
places in Uptown Funk that you’re gonna wanna let out a whoop and I’m gonna say go for it. You know where the spots are, the woo! And, at the very end of Uptown Funk, you’re gonna hear our orchestra hopefully, ’cause they’ve been shy about doing it, singin’ the ♪ Uptown funk you up ♪ ♪ Uptown funk you up ♪ So, if you wanna join us
on that, I say go for it. (audience applauding)
