JUST A COUPLE OF POP-UP THUNDERSTORMS LATER ON. SEVERAL — OPENING IN A FEW WEEKS. JENNIFER MARTIN HAS A FIRST LOOK INSIDE THE NEW HIGH SCHOOL IN DISTRICT 2. STUDENTS HERE WALKED INTO A BRAND NEW FACILITY THIS FALL WHICH WAS JUST COMPLETED OOND COST AROUND $120 MILLION. NO SURPRISE IT’S FULL OF EXCITING FEATURES. FEATURES. THAT MONEY CAME FROM A BOND REFERENDUM APPROVED IN 2016 THAT ALLOWED THE DISTRICT TO ADD 320,000 SQUARE FEET, PLENLT OF ROOM FOR A GROPING COMMUNITY. WE’RE LOOKING AT APPROXIMATELY 1800 STUDENTS WHO WILL COME OVER TO THIS HIGH SCHOOL FROM THE OLD FACILITY. IT’S NEXT DOOR TO THE ORIGINAL BUILDING, WHICH IS BEING TURNED INTO A 9th GRADE ACADEMY. H.V.A.C., NEW CEILING, WALLS. THERE’S FIVE COLLABORATION SPACES PLUS A LARGE COURTYARD WHERE STUDENTS CAN EAT LUNCH. BEING HERE AT NIGHT WITH STUDENT COUNCIL. THE PRINCIPAL WORKS WITH STUDENTS TO DECIDE ON NEW FURNITURE, FOOD OPTIONS, EVEN WATER BOTTLE FRIENDLY DRINKING FOUNTAINS WHICH THEY SAY BRINGS A SENSE OF PRIDE AND EXCITEMENT. NOTHING LIKE STARTING YOUR SENIOR YEAR WITH A NEW BUILDING. IN SPARTANBURG COUNTY, JENNIFER MARTIN, 7NEWS. THERE MAY STILL BE COSMETIC WORK WHEN DOORS OPEN AUGUST 19 BUT CLASSROOMS WILL BE READY.
