What is student loan default? I don’t know. I have no idea. Default? Default? (giggles) Default…? Anybody? I don’t know. I don’t know. I’m not sure. I’m not sure…. No clue. No idea?
No idea Default?…. “The FAULT or default? Is it bad?… (giggles).. I’m not completely sure about that, Isn’t it that when you your not paid on time i feel like. I believe that is when you can not pay it. To go in default… I think that means when
and you’re supposed to pay but you can’t. So what’s your credit score?… do you know it? Uhhh,.. my credit score uhh, shoot, no I do not know my credit score actually. No.. you got a guess?……. No. My credit score?
No. No I don’t. No No.
No. I don’t know. I don’t even know what a credit score is. I…I think 600 is good. I’m guessing it’s up there. Uhmmm, I guess perfect, I think. What is the interest rate of your student loan? Uhhhhh.. I would guess like 1.5 percent or something I don’t know Ummm.. I think it had something
like nine percent most my student loans like, the subsidized ones, I feel like THAT’s the one that actually DOES accrue interest. I only have one of those but I think it’s around like nine or twelve percent I’m not completely sure though Uhmmmmmm… no, because it’s umm un-subsidized, so, it doesnt accumulate interest, yet. But when it does do you know the rate will be?
No Uhhhhhh,.. I really don’t.. I should know, it’s kind of important. Do you know what the interest rate on your credit card is? …….. No. NO IDEA??!! Do you have credit cards?…Yeah.. Do you know what the interest rate for that is?….
No.. My mom handles all that stuff, but …uhmm.. I know I know like I obviously listen to some of the stuff that she says but, goes in one ear and out the other. How many days was Kim Kardashian married?…
72 72 days 72 …she always funny. It’s like my
girlfriend told me 72, I think. Uh,.. 72
72 (Laughs) 72 days, yeah Who is Justin Bieber’s girlfriend?
…Selena Gomez? Ummm,..Selena Gomez. Selena Gomez Uhh…Selena Gomes Selena Gomez? What female singer has been nominated
for six Grammys in the past three years? Katy Perry Katy Perry Katy Perry uhh Katy Perry.. It’s sad that I know all those questions, and I don’t know the…. Is that the point of it? Allright,.. So why do you think that people generally know the pop-culture stuff more than they know, like their own personal credit? I think it’s cuz its fun is more fun in
and more exciting you know Umm,.. probably because it’s something that
we talk about more than our personal financial information and it’s something
that’s more readily available i think. We’re so immersed in that kind of culture that I guess it’s easier to gain access to
information like that you know Okay?
Do you think you learning about
your finances and making good financial decisions is important to you? Yeah,.. I mean it’s doubly important
because I mean have a buttload of loans that I need to pay off by the end of this like by the end of this like school
year So how do you plan on getting that information? I’ll start talking to my friends and family
especially my dad because he knows
all about it You’re going to talk to your friends ???
yeah. …..this friend?
…Hi If this information was available to students, how would you best like to receive it ?
Well, a classroom would be nice, if it was a required course, but the problem is you know ok mean me nobody I mean that might not
really help you direct with your major but It’ll help you in terms of life, A lot. I think more on a one-on-one basis or, having like somebody like a mentor or something.
You know?,.. through any social networking means Twitter,.. Tumbler,.. Websites, etc, etc.. Video and online, I’m a more visual person And how would that information need to
be presented in order for to stick in your head? Maybe not something in such a monotonous
tone, and maybe in little bits not so,.. like long, I think repetition is really important for
me personally and examples or practice… and people
actually saying what happened to them so that I know in the future, Oh, if that
happened to me what would kinda feel like. Keep it, keep it short,
keep it simple Concise, make it fun. It should be relatable to the students.

  1. Good informative video. Makes me a little sad for our future though that kids these days know so little.

  2. Sad state of financial affairs among people in general. Not surprising, but clearly shows the need for financial education.

  3. Sad reality! Considering today's job market and economy and with all the information that is available, the pendulum will swing towards financial literacy in schools and homes.

  4. So sad, this is why we started a program called CASHKIDS. We need to teach our children about finances, then they will be prepared for their future.

  5. WOW!!!! This is sad. I'd recommend students/Everyone check out BuckleDownFinance . com as well for free financial education.

  6. I had to watch this for a school give away. This was very interesting to see how many students had no idea what they had gotten themselves into.I'm very thankful my parents taught me to handle my own finances hands on.

  7. This was great, I have been researching "financial tips for living on your own" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about – Ferapt Freedom Fanboy – (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my brother in law got excellent success with it.
