RYAN TURNER/PRINCIPAL, PACKSADDLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: THE SANDY MOUNTAIN FELLOWSHIP, SARAH LINDLEY A DENTIST IN TOWN, KINGSLAND PHARMACY, THE LAKE AREA RODS AND CLASSICS, IT’S A BUNCH OF HOT RODS AND OLDER CARS AND THEY SHOWED UP LAST WEEK AND GAVE US A CHECK FOR $600.PARENTS LIKE STARMMY ADAMS SAY IT’S A STRESS RELIEVER.STARMMY ADAMS/VOLUNTEER, PACKSADDLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: WE DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT GETTING WHAT SOMEBODY ELSE HAS OR NOT HAVING WHAT SOMEBODY HAS. ARE THERE 100S IN THAT NUMBER? NO. THERE ARE NO HUNDREDS IN THAT NUMBER GOOD. TAMMY BARRACK/3RD GRADE, PACKSADDLE ELEMENTARY TEACHER: I THINK THE BIGGEST THING WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND IS THAT CHILDREN ARE CHILDREN, THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY HAVE OR NOT HAVE. IT’S NOT THEIR FAULT BUT IT COMES DOWN ON 3-CANDY:THE SCHOOL ALSO OFFERS A CLOSET FILLED WITH CLOTHES AND SHOES FOR STUDENTS. AND EVERY FRIDAY, THE PRINCIPAL TELLS ME THEY SEND AROUND 70 STUDENTS HOME WITH NONPERISHABLE FOOD TO EAT ON THE WEEKEND.
