6th Annual Computer Science Education Week For School District Of Philadelphia


BE RIGHT SCIENCE IS FOCUS ACROSS THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF PHILADELPHIA DURING THIS SIXTH ANNUAL COMPUTER SCIENCE EDUCATION WEEK. STUDENTS ARE GETTING HAND ON EXPERIENCE AND FEELS LIKE CODE NOTHING ELECTRONICS. DISTRICT IS EXPANDING ITS DIGITAL LITERACY AND TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM THAT MEANS STUDENTS AT FELTONVILLE SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES HAVE A COMPUTER AT EVERY DESK BUT THAT IS NOT ALL. WE HAVE THE FIRST VIRTUAL REALITY LAB IN THE DISTRICT WHERE STUDENTS CAN TAKE VIRTUAL REALITY TOURS, THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE WORLD, AS WELL AS INTO OUTER SPACE. WHEN YOU CAN SEE YOUNG PEOPLE WORKING WITH THE TYPE OF TECHNOLOGY THAT THEY WERE WORKING WITH THIS MORNING, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE WANT TO EXPAND THROUGHOUT PHILADELPHIA. THE GOAL, OF COMPUTER SCIENCE EDUCATION WEEK IS TO GET STUDENTS EXCITED ABOUT LEARNING SKILLS, FOR CAREERS OF THE FUTURE. GOING SOLAR ONE HOME AT A TIME TO DAY PHILADELPHIA ENERGY AUTHORITY LAUNCHED SECOND ROUND OF THE SOLARIZED PHILLY, A CITY WIDE PROGRAM TO HELP ALL PHILADELPHIANS GO SOLAR AT HOME. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE AT HOME OF THE FISHTOWN PARTICIPANTS WHERE A SOLAR INSTALLATION IS ALREADY UNDERWAY. THE ENERGY AUTHORITY SAYS THAT IT SIGNED UP 168 HOMES TO INSTALL SOLAR PANELS THIS YEAR
